SHREVEPORT, LA. - LSUS Baseball’s Kevin Miranda has been named the Red River Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday. This is the second time this season that Miranda has been named Pitcher of the Week, as he did so after the Pilots’ season-opening series against Cumberland.

The Pilots pushed their season record to 10-1 after winning all five of their games this past week. They started the week off against No. 12 Loyola at Pilot Field, getting the win by a final score of 12-3. They then shifted their focus to the Cajun Collision in Sterlington, Louisiana. They started the weekend off by defeating No. 2 Central Methodist, 2-1, on Thursday night. They followed that victory up with another ranked win against No. 7 IU Southeast on Friday, 1-0. They then closed out the weekend in Sterlington with a 6-0 win over Southwestern Christian and a 3-2 win over Lawrence Tech.

Miranda continued his strong start to the season on the mound for the Pilots. In two starts this week, he compiled a 2-0 record, gave up no runs in 12 innings of work, gave up five hits, one walk, and struck out 26 batters. In his first start this week against No. 12 Loyola, Miranda went five innings, gave up two hits, one walk, and struck out 11 batters. In his next start against Southwestern Christian at the Cajun Collision, Miranda went the complete seven innings, gave up three hits, and struck out 15 batters. 

The Pilots will be back in action on Friday, February 18th at 2 p.m. CT as they open up Red River Athletic Conference play against Texas A&M Texarkana on the road.
