Application Instructions

  1. Complete the online LSU Shreveport application.
  2. Pay the $30 no-refundable application fee.
  3. Submit Official Academic Transcripts.
  • All foreign credentials must be submitted in English to the Office of Admissions and Records using a member organization of one of the following two national associations of credential evaluation services:
    • National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) (www.naces.org)
    • Association of International Credentials Evaluators (AICE) (www.aice-eval.org)  

  • Completed/will complete a diploma program that is equivalent to a U.S. High School Diploma with a 2.0 GPA
    • Program equivalency and GPA determined by international records evaluation process

 4. Submit Official Placement Test scores from one of the following:

  • SAT – Writing Sub-score: 500       Math Sub-score: 510
  • ACT – English Sub-score: 18         Math Sub-score: 19

 5. Demonstrate English Proficiency (only one required):

  • A score of 500 or higher on the written TOEFL
  • A score of 61 or higher on the internet-based (IBT) TOEFL
  • A score of 6.0 on the IELTS Band
  • A minimum score of 47 on the PTE
  • A level 9 on the TLC

  • U. S. high school diploma earned, having attended all 4 years of high school in the U.S.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree earned from an accredited U.S. institution
  • Score of 530 on the English/Critical Reading section of the SAT; or 20 on the English Section of the ACT
  • S. transfer requirements (minimum 2.50 overall GPA on 30 or more semester hours above remedial level, including a college-level course in English and in mathematics, or two consecutive English courses, from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university)

Prospective students seeking an F1 student visa or who have entered the United States on an F1 student visa are required to submit the following documents:

  • Complete the educational background report using the online form HERE.
  • Financial Information - International Student Affidavit of support packet
    • Bank Statement
    • Bank Certificate showing balance and US dollar equivalency
    • Bank Loan (if Applicable)
    • Scholarship or Grant Approval Letter (if Applicable)
  • Proof of immunization or immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella must be provided prior to registration. Proof of tetanus/diphtheria immunization is also required. An online form is available HERE.
  • Copy of Current Passport
  • Demonstrate English Proficiency (by either of the following):
    • Official TOEFL (www.toefl.org) scores sent directly to Louisiana State University Shreveport (code #: 6355) by the Educational Testing Services (ETS). Minimum scores required for undergraduate admission are: 500 on the paper-based version or 61 on the internet-based version.
    • IELTS composite score of 6.0.
    • ELS Level 112.
    • TLC Level 9 (www.thelanguagecompany.com)
    • Minimum score of 47 on the Pearson Test of English (PTE)
