A bachelor’s degree in marketing will open many different doors – to careers in business, graduate school and more. These are some of the ways that your undergraduate experience at LSUS will prepare you for success.  

Hands-on experience 

Simulations, in-class projects and internships offer opportunities to gain hands-on experience in the business area of your choice.  Internships not only offer valuable on-the-job experience, but also count for three hours of 400-level college credit toward your management and administration major. In the Small Business Creative Advertising class you’ll also get to work with a small business to create ads and other promotional pieces. 

Student life 

Student organizations such as the Advertising Club, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and the Finance Club offer networking opportunities with area professionals and other activities. High-achieving students are invited to join Beta Gamma Sigma, Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, or Sigma Iota Epsilon honor societies.

Marketing Concentration

Marketing careers are diverse and demand a wide range of characteristics. The positions range from very people-oriented positions to those that are more analytical or quantitative in nature. There are many entry-level positions in marketing where students can gain experience while completing their undergraduate degrees. Advertising Design

Marketing Concentration

A BS in Marketing with a concentration in Advertising Design allows you to combine your artistic and graphic design skills with a solid business core to leverage your abilities into a corporate career in advertising and/or design. The highest career prospects expect solid training in digital design and web applications. Students obtain important business skills while enhancing design and technical applications. Data Analytics

Marketing Concentration

The explosion in the amount of readily available data to organizations has created fatigue and frustration for decision makers. Companies are gathering and storing more data than they can effectively use without the modeling and data analysis performed by data analysts. Decision makers need data transformed into information and visualized to allow them to quickly digest and utilize these results in strategic planning. This process needs to be fast, efficient and accurate. Skills in

Hospitality

Marketing Concentration

Few fields are as diverse as hospitality. Many people think of hospitality jobs as low paying positions that require little training, formal education, and experience. Certainly some jobs in hospitality, as with other industries, share those characteristics. However, there are many positions in hospitality for a college-educated candidate that are fast-paced and have exciting long-term career opportunities. Based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are many hospitality positions expecting college education and even industry certifications. With a BS in Marketing with a concentration in Hospitality, students can graduate already possessing high demand hospitality industry certifications that will open the door to the high paying and fast growing jobs described by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

International Business

Marketing Concentration

A concentration in International Business pairs well with many degrees, including Management, Marketing or General Business. Having specialized training to face a globalized economy offers leverage in the job market. The international business concentration contextualizes the knowledge and skills learned in a business degree program to prepare students for the complexities of working within a cross-cultural and diverse environment. Many people with successful careers in international business study and become proficient in one or more foreign languages.

Sales

Marketing Concentration

There are very few entry-level positions with the earning potential of a sales career. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the highest ten percent of sales representatives can earn as much as $125,300 annually. The potential is even greater if the employee has the skills to sell technical or pharmaceutical products, which can be more than $158,580. Sales positions have great variability in salaries with the bottom 10 percent earning an average of $30,530 annually. The ability to achieve great results early in your career is possible in sales, with hard work, tenacity, and determination. The BS in Marketing with a concentration in Sales provides a wide base of training in sales across a number of marketing platforms.
