Biography

Dr. Michael C. Anderson is a native of Natchez, Mississippi where he attended Natchez High School and is most known for his leadership as drum major of Natchez High “Pride of Natchez” Marching Band.

After graduation Anderson enrolled at Copiah-Lincoln Community College where he served as SGA president and Mr. Co-Lin (2003). Anderson received an Associate of Sciences in Business Management. Anderson continued his studies by attending Mississippi College (MC) in Clinton, Mississippi. While at MC Anderson served as president of the Black Student (Plus) Association and formed the first official campus gospel choir. In December 2005 Anderson received his Bachelor of Sciences in Communication (Public Relations) and a minor in Business Administration.

It was not Anderson’s intent to move forward in his educational career and he had even made seven bets with friends that he would never attend another school, but in Fall 2009 Anderson enrolled in a Graduate School and went on to receive a Master of Science in Education (Spring 2011), a Specialist (Spring 2013) and a Ph.D. (Spring 2016) both in Higher Education Administration and in December 2021 he received a second Master of Science in Sport Administration all from Jackson State University.

Anderson’s personal quote is “it’s not about the knowledge one has, it’s about what one does where he’s planted with that knowledge.”
