SHREVEPORT – LSUS’s impact across the region, the state and the nation continues to be felt as a record number of summer graduates will cross the Brookshire Grocery Arena stage Friday.
The university will confer a summer semester record 1,550 degrees, which also leads the entire state for summer graduation.
Nearly 1,500 of those graduates completed master’s degrees as LSUS continues to attract and guide multitudes of students through its year-round online graduate programs.
The Master of Business Administration (949 graduates), the Master of Health Administration (296), and the Master of Education (177) continue to be LSUS’s most popular programs.
The Master of Nonprofit Administration is one of LSUS’s fastest-growing programs, reaching 47 graduates this summer.
Forty-eight students obtained bachelor’s degrees with general studies (22) and business administration (15) leading the way.
Kristina Gustavson, the CEO for the Community Foundation of North Louisiana, will deliver the keynote address.
No tickets are required to attend the event, and graduates can invite as many guests as they would like to the 14,000-seat arena. Parking is free.
The ADA entrance is located on the north side of the building, which includes a wheelchair accessible ramp. Parking lot A is reserved for handicapped guests.
The ceremony will be livestreamed through the LSUS YouTube channel.
WHERE ARE GRADUATES FROM?
LSUS summer graduates hail from 51 U.S. states/territories and 31 countries.
Louisiana (377 graduates) leads the way in total number of graduates with Texas (176), Florida (129), California (112) and Georgia (75). Tennessee, South Carolina, New York and Pennsylvania all logged at least 40 graduates.
International students represent 31 countries outside the United States, covering territory like Australia, Bangaldesh, Brazil, Gambia, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Spain, and Taiwan to name a few.
