SHREVEPORT – LSUS has broken an enrollment record for the fourth straight semester, posting a school record for summer enrollment with 8,006 students.
The enrollment figure is more than a six percent increase from LSUS’s previous summer enrollment high set in 2024.
LSUS has bested its own enrollment records in every semester since Spring 2024 when the university topped 10,000 students for the first time in school history.
“At LSU in Shreveport, we are making a habit of breaking enrollment records nearly every semester,” said LSUS Chancellor Dr. Robert Smith. “Summer 2025 was no exception, exceeding last summer’s all-time summer enrollment record enrollment.
“Our faculty and staff work hard daily to meet the needs of students in Louisiana and beyond for rigorous undergraduate and graduate degree programs across in-demand fields.”
Undergraduate students were the fastest growing student population (866 students), expanding by nearly 18 percent from the previous summer.
Graduate students continue to make up the bulk of the student population as they take advantage of LSUS’s accelerated programs that are offered year-round.
This student population totaled 7,140 this summer, a jump of more than five percent.
Not only are more students enrolling in summer classes, they are taking more credit hours. Undergraduate students enrolled in 24 percent more credit hours this summer compared to last.
LSUS’s three highest summer enrollment figures have all been since 2021 as the university met the surging demand for retooling the workforce during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The University is also exceeding its recruiting and application goals for Fall 2025, which could lead to an enrollment that tops its all-time record of 10,926 set in Spring 2025.
