SHREVEPORT – LSU Shreveport ranks No. 3 in Louisiana public university rankings, according to an analysis done by Niche.com.

The online platform, which helps pair prospective college students with universities, analyzes publicly available data provided to the U.S. Department of Education combined with analysis of student reviews.

The rankings focused on schools’ undergraduate offerings and didn’t consider graduate school programs.

The platform awarded LSUS an overall B grade as the university graded highly in areas like faculty (A-), diversity (A-), value (B+), and safety (B+).

LSUS is the most affordable college on the list with a calculated net price of $7,554 per year, which factors in the average out-of-pocket cost to a student after scholarships, grants, and other aid. Average out-of-pocket costs calculate not just tuition but other expenses such as books, housing, and food.

All but one other Top 10 public universities in the state rankings have an average annual net price of at least $11,000.

Niche.com singled out LSUS’s business school as the most highly rated in the state and top 10 percent in the nation (No. 108).

The data put LSUS in a positive national light as well, ranking No. 180 in Best Small Colleges in America (top 15 percent).

When private schools were added into the rankings, LSUS charted at No. 4.

Tulane received the No. 1 spot in the state when all colleges were considered, followed by Louisiana Tech and LSU Baton Rouge.
