Biography
Leslie Welch brings experience in student success, academic affairs, NCAA academic compliance, and applied behavior analysis to her role at Louisiana State University Shreveport. Her professional background has centered on supporting students through data-informed practice, cross-functional collaboration, and individualized guidance.
Prior to joining LSUS, Leslie worked at Louisiana Tech University, where she served as a Student Retention Specialist within Academic Affairs before advancing to Associate Registrar for NCAA Academic Compliance. In these roles, she supported university-wide retention initiatives, coordinated with multiple campus departments, and assisted with academic eligibility certification and compliance processes for student-athletes.
Earlier in her career, Leslie worked as a Registered Behavior Technician, where she developed strong skills in client support, progress monitoring, behavioral data collection, and evidence-based practice. Her experience working with diverse student populations strengthened her passion for student advocacy and individualized support.
Leslie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Texas A&M University and a Master of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Louisiana Tech University. Her professional interests include student retention, adult learner engagement, culturally responsive support practices, and helping students successfully navigate higher education systems.
