Biography
Originally from South Africa, Kirsten brings a global perspective, a big heart for students, and a deep love for LSUS as a proud two-time alumna. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Psychology (Applied Behavior Analysis concentration) and went on to earn a Master of Science in Counseling.
Kirsten was everywhere as a student at LSUS. From competing on the soccer field to serving as President of First-Gen Leaders and the Tri-Alpha Honor Society for First-Generation College Students, she was deeply involved in campus life and leadership. Over nearly five years in the Student Success Center, Kirsten wore many hats: Academic Coach, Tutor, Supplemental Instruction Leader, and Writing Consultant; each one centered on helping students thrive.
Her passion for first-year success also led her to serve as a First-Year Peer Leader, a member of the FYE Committee and QEP Selection Committee, and as part of LSUS’s team with the Gardner Institute Retention Academy. Professionally, Kirsten has taught First-Year Seminar as an adjunct instructor and currently works as a mental health counselor at Louisiana Behavioral Health, blending academic guidance with clinical insight.
Her firsthand experience as a student, leader, instructor, and counselor, combined with her strengths in assessment, data analysis, and student retention; make her a powerful advocate for student success.
