Harsh winter weather will be affecting areas in and around the LSUS campus beginning Friday night. Currently, campus will be closed Saturday and Sunday, with only essential personnel reporting for duty. This means all buildings on campus will be closed and inaccessible.
The entire LSUS community – students, faculty, and staff – should all make plans now to ensure their personal safety, just in case power outages or inaccessible roadways persist for multiple days. Currently the National Weather Service predicts that our area could see critical infrastructure issues beginning late Friday night, continuing into next week.
Now is the time to ensure your emergency kit is stocked and ready. Make sure you have enough water, food, batteries, prescriptions and toiletries to last 3-4 days. More Emergency Prep Tips can be found on our website (https://www.lsus.edu/lsus-emergency-response/emergency-procedures).
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Stay tuned to your LSUS email and LSUS social media channels for the latest information. Those channels will be used to communicate further closures or schedule modifications.
Online coursework will continue throughout the weather event, but if you are personally affected by the weather, we ask that you communicate directly with your faculty member to indicate such. Additionally, faculty and staff will be affected by the weather, so please extend grace in your communications as they may not be quick to respond.
The latest weather updates can be found on the National Weather Service website (https://www.weather.gov/shv/).
