Shreveport, LA – Louisiana State University Shreveport will hold its Fall 2022 Commencement Ceremony Friday, December 16th.

Two ceremonies will take place at the Brookshire’s Grocery Arena in Bossier City: the ceremony for graduates whose surnames begin with letters A-K will begin at 10:00am CST, and the ceremony for L-Z will begin at 2:00pm CST. Both ceremonies will be livestreamed on Facebook for those who cannot attend in person.

The commencement address will be given by Ashley Elston, author and LSU Shreveport alumna. Elston earned her bachelor’s degree in liberal arts at LSUS and has since published six novels. One of her novels, The Rules for Disappearing, was nominated for the Best Young Adult Novel of the International Thriller Awards. Her upcoming novel titled First Lie Wins is currently in development with Hulu, and Elston is slated as the Executive Producer. As a graduate of LSU Shreveport, Elston recounts the experience of her own commencement. “Twenty-five years ago, I walked across the stage to receive my diploma from LSUS, and I’m so honored to come back and speak to those graduating this fall. I’m excited to tell my story and share how LSUS prepared me for a future that I never saw coming.”

Degrees will be conferred to 1,236 students, both undergraduate and graduate. Over 500 students have confirmed they will attend the in-person ceremony.

Doors open at 8 am for the first ceremony and 12pm for the afternoon ceremony. B. Wayne Brown will be the LSU Board of Supervisors representative conferring degrees.
