
LSUS Licensed Practical Nursing Program
Overview
More than 550 students have completed the LSUS LPN Program, and we have a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX! The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is an integral part of the health-care team, working under the direction of a licensed physician, optometrist, dentist, or registered nurse. The LSUS CE LPN program is approved by the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nursing. Upon satisfactory completion of the program, you will be prepared to sit for the national licensor exam for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN).
Program Schedule - Day
Day (12-month/ 3 semesters) Classes are held Monday thru Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm (6:45am to 3:15pm for clinicals) for a total of 1,540 clock hours (730 theory and 810 clinical).

We are now accepting applications for the May 2023 Day Class.

Requirements for the LSUS PN Program
Complete and pay $20 to process the LSUS PN application. This is available in our office, LSUS Technology Center-Room 141.
Type a one-page essay explaining why you are interested in the program AND the profession. Font size should be 12, style-Times New Roman. Double-spaced with 1-inch margins. Be sure to include your name on the essay. Essays may be mailed or delivered to our office.
The following documents are required:
- Driver’s License/ Photo Identification Card
- Official/ (Certified) Birth Certificate or passport with raised seal (we will copy)
- Official/ (Certified) high school transcripts/GED
- Official/ (Certified) transcripts from any colleges, universities or technical schools
- GPA-2.5 on high school or college transcript
- Official/ (Certified) scores on standardized testing (ACCUPLACER, ACCUPLACER NEXT GEN, TABE, ACT); these scores should not be older than 3 years
Accuplacer Testing
Testing appointments must be scheduled in advance and can be rescheduled only once. Testing fees are non-refundable. No refunds will be issued for any reason once a test has started. No refunds made for missed appointments.

Transcripts
To request your official PRACTICAL NURSING Transcript, please print and complete the form linked below. After completing all fields, sign, date and then mail or fax the completed form to the LSUS College of Education & Human Development. Official requests are processed as quickly as possible and are usually processed within two (2) business days of receipt of the request. The first two transcripts are free and then $5.00 (cash or money order) for each additional. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CHECKS.
