Biography
Dr. Minsun Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management and Marketing at LSU Shreveport. Minsun received her Ph.D. in Business Administration from Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and her Master's degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the University of Houston, Houston, Texas. She is a recipient of the William C. Woolf Endowed Rising Star Professorship in Business and the LSUS College of Business Faculty Innovation Award. She holds Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA), Hotel Revenue Management Certificate, Fox Online Teaching Certificate, CHIA Authorized Instructor Certificate, and CAHTA (Certification in Advanced Hospitality and Tourism Analytics) Authorized Instructor Certificate.
She has published articles in several journals, including the International Journal of Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, Journal of Pricing and Revenue Management, and Knowledge Management Theory and Practice. Minsun is interested in the application of strategic management theories and econometric methods to pricing and other business strategies of hospitality firms, as well as in understanding consumer responses to revenue management practices. She serves as an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, Annal of Tourism Research, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, Annual International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education Conference, and Annual Graduate Student Research Conference in Hospitality and Tourism.
She has taught multiple strategic management and hospitality courses for MBA and undergraduate students at LSUS, including Organizational Strategy and Policies, Hospitality Analytics, Hospitality and Casino Marketing, and Principles of Management. Prior to joining LSUS, she has taught Revenue Management and Hotel Analytics courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels at Temple University. Minsun brings with her eight years of professional experience in the industry in the U.S. and South Korea ranging from hospitality asset management consulting, hotel revenue management, food & beverage, resort operation, guest service training, and to event organizing. She worked at Hilton Worldwide, ARAMARK, Hotel GRANDUCA (an independent luxury hotel), EVENTION, Orion Hotels, Inc., and Samsung Everland Resort.
