Census Low Response Rate Louisiana Dashboard
Detailed Instructions for using the Census Low Response Rate Louisiana Dashboard
First, we want to acknowledge that this data visualization was modeled off a similar one created by the Maryland Department of Planning. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
In order to better plan for the 2020 Census, this visualization is designed to highlight Low Response Score (LRS) of census tracts in Louisiana and the demographics that go along with the tracts. The United States Census Bureau established the Low Response Score (LRS) as an overall indicator of hard-to-survey areas based on previous mail response rates and other demographic factors. According to the Census Bureau, you should interpret the LRS as a percentage of households predicted to NOT self-respond to the Decennial Census. The higher the LRS is in a census tract, the harder that area may be to survey.
