WHY SHOULD I ATTEND SOAR?
Students who attend and participate in the SOAR experience have distinct advantages over all other first-time freshmen. SOAR provides numerous opportunities to help new freshmen adjust to the college experience. Not only do they interact with other new students, but they also get to meet current students, who "know the ropes." SOAR participants receive individualized assistance with class scheduling, get to know where things are on campus, and get to early register for Fall classes...no long lines!! By the end of the day, SOAR students will not only have advantages over other incoming freshmen, but also will have had fun and laughs along the way.

WHEN IS SOAR 2007?
The Final SOAR session will be offered:

  • Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 9:00 AM - University Center
  • Friday, July 25, 2008 at 9:00 AM - University Center
  • Monday, July 28, 2008 at 9:00 AM - University Center
  • Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 9:00 AM - University Center

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
SOAR is provided at no cost to students. However, you must register in advance so the SOAR staffers have materials ready for you. Students coming from out-of-town may stay in University Housing for $10 per night. To make arrangements for student housing, contact University Court Apartments at 797-8588.

HOW DO I RESERVE MY SPOT?
To attend you must be admitted to LSUS. Contact the Office of Admissions & Records (797-5061) to apply to LSUS or check your admission status. Once you have completed the LSUS application process and been fully admitted to LSUS, the Admissions and Records Office will contact you with instructions on reserving your spot for SOAR! No reservations for SOAR will be taken until the student has been admitted to the University.

CAN PARENTS ATTEND SOAR?
SOAR is designed for students who have never attended a college or university. However, LSUS recognizes the importance of a support system for students. Therefore, the Student Development & Counseling Center has also designed a parent orientation program just for parents and/or other student supporters.
