Occasionally, students encounter difficult life situations that impact their ability to learn. To assist these students in their persistence toward their academic goals, the Counseling Center provides free, confidential counseling on a short-term basis. Difficulties requiring long-term or medical interventions are referred to appropriate resources in the Shreveport-Bossier community.
Counseling services facilitate:
- Personal growth and adjustment
- Educational enhancement and orientation
- Career awareness and maturation
The Counseling Center also offers a variety of programming designed to assist students in their adjustment to the University experience and provide them with the responsibility to develop to their maximum potential. Programs include:
- Educational & prevention presentations
- Freshman Focus Mentor Program
- Support Groups
- Early Alert Referral System (EARS)
- Coordination of services for students with disabilities
