SHREVEPORT, LA. - LSUS Women’s Soccer’s Alexis Hobbs and Madison Salas were named RRAC All-Conference Honorable Mentions, announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

Hobbs, known for her high soccer IQ, was a leader for the Pilots during the first season under Head Coach Mark Matlock. She started all 15 games she appeared in for the Pilots this season and was instrumental in leading the Pilots defense that only allowed 12 goals during conference play, good for second in the RRAC.

“Alexis was our coach on the field,” said Coach Matlock. “Her high soccer IQ enabled her to be successful in many different roles for us this season. She was always willing to do what was needed to help the team. She is a fierce competitor and her leadership both on and off the field will be greatly missed next season.”

Salas was another huge piece on that tough to score on Pilots’ defense. She started all 17 games for the Pilots, scored a goal, and was a lockdown defender all season long for the purple and gold.

“Maddie anchored our defense which was under a lot of pressure this season,” said Coach Matlock. “Even though she is a young player, she stepped right into a leadership role and the team looked to her to set the tone for us in training and in games. She is a dominant force heading the ball and is fearless in tackles. I am excited to watch her continue to lead our team into the future.”

Along with Hobbs and Salas, Livia Schneider was selected as LSUS’ representative on the RRAC Champions of Character Team.

“Livia represents everything I want an LSUS soccer player to be,” continued Coach Matlock. “She has worked extremely hard to overcome injuries and setbacks all with a smile on her face. She is a compassionate and supportive teammate, respectful to the coaching staff, and an example on the pitch and off. I know Livia will continue to do great things at LSUS and beyond.”
