SHREVEPORT, LA. - LSUS Women’s Soccer’s Karolyn Hasler has been named the Red River Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

“Karolyn has so much experience in big games and brings a great deal of confidence to our team when she is in goal,” said LSUS Head Coach Mark Matlock. “This week was another example of that where we were under a lot of pressure and she did a fantastic job of keeping us in the game despite playing through an injury. Goalkeeping is such a critical piece to a strong defensive unit and Karolyn continues to anchor us with strong performances.”

Hasler was truly a force in net for the Pilots last week. She started out the week by notching seven saves in a Labor Day matchup with Science and Arts of Oklahoma. Next, in the Pilots’ matchup against Division I opponent Southern University, Hasler finished with a season-high 12 saves en route to the Pilots tying the Jaguars 1-1 in double overtime.

Hasler is enjoying a fast start to her senior season for the Pilots. The Arizona native has compiled 27 saves and notched a save percentage of 87.1 through four matches she has appeared in.

The Pilots return to action on Friday, September 17 against Millsaps in Jackson, Mississippi. The match will begin at 5 p.m. CT.
