The Management major is designed to provide students with the skills needed to coordinate and manage human, financial, physical, and information resources to achieve an organization's goals. Course work provides students with the tools which will both facilitate on-the-job development toward a career in management as well as make certain that this development is solidly grounded. Career focus may be given to the major by the logical packaging of courses from one of five specialized groups: Human Resource Management; International Management; Health Care Management; Hospitality Management; or Entrepreneurship, Technology & Innovation Management. For instance if you are interested in a career in human resource management, you might want to concentrate on course work in this area. If your career goal is to start your own business, you likely would select courses which focus on small business management entrepreneurship and innovation.
As a complement to their major in Management and Administration, students may elect to design a program of study in one of five areas: International Management, Health Care Management, Hospitality Management, Entrepreneur Technology and Innovation Management, and Human Resource Management. Each of these reflects areas of economic growth in our community, the research expertise of our faculty, and projected employment opportunities for our graduates. The student must take 15 hours of course work within the Management and Administration curriculum of 129 hours and requires either a 2.5 cumulative GPA or a 2.75 GPA for the last 24 hours.
A student choosing to focus should select the following course work:
