LSUS expects each student to exhibit honor in all phases of University life, academic as well as social. Conduct and personal appearance should be in harmony with socially accepted standards, reflecting credit upon the student, the student's peers, and the University. LSUS expects each student to be honest in every aspect of campus life and further expects cooperation with both faculty and staff in order to create an atmosphere conducive to learning and professional growth.

The University may deny admission, readmission, or continued enrollment to any student whose behavior is or may be disruptive, dangerous, or abusive.

Each student is expected to assume responsibility for being familiar with all University rules and regulations concerning good citizenship as outlined in the LSUS Student Handbook and to use the handbook as a guide while enrolled at LSUS.

STUDENT SERVICES

Orientation
The faculty and staff of LSUS are eager to help the student make a satisfactory transition from high school to college or from another college to LSUS. Student Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR) provides entering freshmen specific information about the academic and social environment at LSUS while giving them a personalized head start in advising and registration. A separate orientation session for transfer students, held prior to each registration, covers topics of importance to this group of students.

Counseling
Counseling services are provided through the Counseling Center. The counselor's approach is to prevent major issues in the student's life from becoming problems that interfere with academic progress, and counseling sessions may become personal growth experiences. Students may receive professional assistance in personal issues, educational concerns, and career planning.

Assistance is provided through individual appointments, group counseling, educational workshops and seminars, self-help information, and testing. While there may be a nominal fee for testing, all other counseling services are free.

Information on the ACT, NTE, and GRE is also available from this office.

For additional information or to schedule an appointment, contact the Counseling Center at (318) 797-5365.

Housing
Some of the nation's finest on-campus housing is available to the LSUS student. The University Court Apartments accommodates over 450 students in luxurious four-bedroom and efficiency apartments. Floor plans feature spacious living areas, private bedrooms, and full-service kitchens. The community is surrounded by an eight-foot perimeter fence with electronically controlled limited access. Amenities include an outdoor pool, jacuzzi, sand volleyball court, and a clubhouse with a big screen TV. An academic environment coupled with an array of educational, recreational, and social programming, coordinated by an on-site residence-life staff, enhances the overall college experience for the LSUS student. For further information regarding University Court call (318) 797-8588 or visit the Community offices at 8445 Youree Drive.

Services for Students with Disabilities
The University assures students with disabilities equal opportunity to reach the same level of achievement as other students in the most integrated setting appropriate to the individual's needs. No qualified student shall be excluded from participation in, be denied benefits of, or otherwise be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity. Services for students with disabilities are available through the Student Development and Counseling Center. Any student who is  having problems or needs assistance should contact the Coordinator of Services for Students with Disabilities, located in the Student Development and Counseling Center, second floor of the Administration Building (797-5365).
