The student majoring in English must take at least 42 hours above freshman English, with at least 30 of those hours in courses numbered 300 and above. The student must also complete one foreign language through the sophomore year (usually 12 hours) and must take at least 6 hours in courses numbered 300 and above offered by other departments, as well as a course in oral communications.
