SHREVEPORT, LA. - The LSUS Men’s Basketball team (19-7, 12-2) defeated Texas College on Saturday, 113-74, winning the Red River Athletic Conference East Division and clenching at least a share of the RRAC Regular Season Championship. With the win, the Pilots improve to 19-7 on the season and 12-2 in RRAC play. The Steers fall to 4-12 on the season with the loss, and 0-8 in conference play. 

The Pilots were in complete control of this game from the very beginning. They shot 56 percent from the field in the first half, and 43 percent from beyond the arc to take a big lead over the Steers. After forcing nine turnovers in the half, the Pilots were able to take a 55-22 lead into the halftime break. 

The second half saw the Pilots add on to their lead with more spectacular play on the offensive side of the ball. They upped their field goal percentage to 62 percent in the second half and ultimately stretched their lead. They were able to force four more turnovers in the half as they would go on to win their 12th conference game of the season. 

The Pilots were by Senior Jeff Boyd who delivered what will go down as one of the best performances of all-time by a Pilot, on his Senior Day. Boyd finished the night with 47 points after shooting 17-25 for 68 percent from the field. He also made nine threes, grabbed five rebounds, dished out three assists, and notched three steals. Akeem White also enjoyed a solid Senior Day performance. He finished with 25 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Quentin Jones and Trey Johnson rounded out the group of Pilots in double-figures, as they finished with 12 and 10 points each. 

The Pilots will be back in action on Tuesday, February 22nd as they stay at home for a matchup with conference foe and in-state rival LSUA. The game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. CT from The Dock in Shreveport.
