SHREVEPORT, LA. - LSUS Men’s Soccer’s James Averies has been named the Red River Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday.

“I am happy for James to be recognized by our conference,” said LSUS Head Coach Phillip Bohn. “He has had a very strong start to this season and set the bar quite high for his personal performance.”

Averies was lights out on the defensive side of the ball for the Pilots in their 2-0 loss against Science and Arts on Monday. Averies played all 90 minutes in the match and was instrumental in helping the Pilots stay in the match the whole time.

Averies has been a steady force for the Pilots so far this season. He has played the full 90 minutes in all three regulation matches for the Pilots, and played 103 minutes in the double overtime win against Lyon College back in August.

The Pilots will be back in action on Wednesday, September 15 as they welcome Texas Wesleyan to Shreveport. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m. CT. Live stats and video will be available.
