Faculty and Staff

Career Services is dedicated to supplementing the academic preparation you provide in the classroom by fostering students' development outside of it. As students seek out your help with career related issues, we encourage you to contact us and explore how our office can support your efforts. Please also encourage your students to utilize the office and our resources throughout their time at LSUS.

One easy way that Career Services can offer support is by filling in on a day when you are absent. We can also guest lecture while you are present. We are equipped to present on a variety career-related topics ranging from a 15-minute CAREER SERVICES INTRODUCTION to a 75-minute session about INTERNSHIP SEARCH STRATEGIES.  Learn more about potential topics beyond what is listed below and email to discuss your students' needs.

  • Exploring Career Options
  • Resume Writing
  • Internship Search Strategies
  • Job Search Strategies
  • Preparing for Interviews
  • LinkedIn/Developing a Professional Online Presence
  • Preparing for a Career Fair or Networking Event
  • Thinking about Graduate School?
  • Or a customized presentation!

Each presentation we deliver is customized to the students in your class. We take into account their needs based on their classification, their programs of study, and the time of year and how it relates to your chosen topic.

Career Services manages an online job board called Handshake, which houses hundreds of part-time, internship, and full-time roles. The exciting thing about Handshake is that once a student activates their account and completes their profile, it offers folks a curated lists of opportunities based on their classification, program or study, and geographic preferences. Beyond offering a wide array of opportunities that they can apply for, Handshake also recommends career development workshops and resources that can help a student develop their professional skills.

If you'd like more information about Handshake and it's benefits to your students, please contact Career Services by emailing or by calling 313-797-5062 .
