The LSUS Biology provided families with a fun way to celebrate Earth Day

April 26, 2017

The LSUS Biology Club presented the community with a morning filled with excitement and family-friendly activities in honor of Earth Day. This event was held to serve as a way to invite the local community to participate in a variety of science and earth themed activities. In addition to this, this event was set to raise funding for science labs, and inspire curiosity with presentations by some of our very own professors.

“We wanted to host an event where we could invite our neighbors onto campus to have a great time and to become familiar with LSUS,” Jill Macchiaverna, Biology Club member and event chair, said. “Any money we raise will go to maintenance and improvement of science labs.” This event had many thrilling activities. Attendees had the pleasure of enjoying a bounce house, facepainting, free seeds and seedlings, a representative from Slow Food USA North Louisiana chapter, educational activities led by faculty and science students, and several presentations. There was also food provided by Taqueria La Michoacana and Sweetport.

This event was successful, and provided families with a fun way to celebrate Earth Day
