Stress Less Fest

Date and Time
Wednesday April 14, 2021
11:00am - 1:00pm

In observance of April's Stress Awareness Month, join us on the UC Mall for a slew of COVID-friendly, stress-reducing fun events coordinated in collaboration between Student Activities, Counseling Services, and the LSUS campus chapter of Active Minds:

Monday, Apr. 12th @ 11am-12pm

  • AIR GUITAR WORKOUT- Bring your air guitar (or IMAGINARY bass, drums, keys, and other surprise instruments) and come sweat it out. This is a free will activity, everyone is responsible for their own body, their own perceived level of fitness and their own intensity because this is not a class, but a happening. Movement does good things for the body, mind, and soul. Let go and let loose; find some peace through free form air guitar release.
  • EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE - EFT is an alternative treatment for physical pain and emotional distress. It's also referred to as "tapping" or "psychological acupressure." This technique creates balance in your energy system, and is proven to help reduce stress hormones and alleviate anxiety. Join us to learn this quick and easy method of self-care. You might feel silly tapping your head like a monkey, but it works! Try it!

Wednesday, Apr. 14th @11am-1pm

  • GOAT YOGA - Goat yoga is one of those things that sounds like a joke. But it is very real. A yoga teacher leads a class of humans while tiny adorable goats interact with the yogis. The goats force you to be light-hearted and not take every little thing so seriously, And they're cute! Nothing like a little fun and furry stretching combined with laughter therapy to put you in a good mood and lift your spirits. Laughter reverses the stress response with lowered levels of cortisol. Also, it can alter dopamine and serotonin activity making it an excellent form of stress relief. Can you say "Bahhhhh-ma-ste?" (Contact Student Activities with any questions.)
  • PIE YOUR PROFESSOR - Here's your opportunity to get to see a different side of your faculty members. We'll throw a little trivia in the mix, "Two Truths and a Lie," so you can see if you can guess and get to know them. Oh, the joy of combining whipped cream and embarrassment! Donations welcome to support mental health awareness. (Contact Counseling Services with any questions.)
