Phi Mu Sorority Ready to Give Back and Dance

October 26, 2016

Phi Mu Epsilon Xi at LSU Shreveport is getting ready to dance the night away, and raise funds for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, on Nov. 12 at the Bossier Civic Center in Bossier, LA.

"Giving back to the community means everything to us," said Jordan Bordelon, Phi Mu philanthropy chair. "The whole purpose of our sisterhood is to better ourselves and support our philanthropy. Over the years we have had the pleasure of getting to know some of the staff, family, and kids from the hospital. They are so incredible. We just want to do more for them."

The Phi Mu Dance Marathon starts at 6 p.m. and will end at midnight. Besides dancing, there will be games for participants to play and a craft table for children. In addition to there being a raffle, concession stand, and entertainment, free food will also be available on a first come, first serve basis during the first hour of the dance marathon.

"Phi Mu is putting on this dance marathon because we want to grow our philanthropy events," said Bordelon. "This is the biggest event we have ever done. We want to reach out to the community and get them involved because the more involvement we have, the more we can do for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Everything that we raise will go directly to our local hospital, Christus Health Shreveport-Bossier."

Bordelon said that this particular event is a fun and easy way to support the local community.

"We have had an incredible outpour of support from local businesses," Bordelon said. "They have provided funds, prizes, and food for the dance marathon. We could not have done this without their support. I'd really like to thank our top sponsor, Campus Federal Credit Union, who has not only provided a donation, but also a tremendous amount of advice and support."

The dance marathon is open to all ages. Registration is $25 and free for kids under five years of age.
