LSUS SGA Hosts Bone Marrow Drive

October 25, 2017

Every three minutes in the Unites States, someone is diagnosed with blood cancer, and what’s worse is that someone dies from this awful disease every nine minutes. Thankfully, LSUS students can play a part in helping to increase the odds.
The SGA is teaming up with the international, non-profit organization, DKMS, to do a community service project during Fall Fest. The event will help to raise awareness of the need for bone marrow donors in the United States.
For students interested in being a donor, and helping to save lives of those with blood cancer, can do so by filling out a form and swabbing for 60 seconds. Students can stop by the table of the SGA Senate during Fall Fest to pick up forms with information to learn how to become a donor, and to do their swab.
Fall Fest will continue this Friday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the UC Mall. Join the festivities, while being an advocate in helping to cause awareness, and to save lives for people with blood cancer, and other blood disorders.
