LSUS Mass Communication Students Succeed in SEJC 'Best of South" Competition

LSUS students - Best of South competitionThe Best of the South winners were announced at the 32nd Southeast Journalism Conference (SEJC) annual convention held recently in Searcy, Ark., and LSUS Mass Communication students' journalism works were recognized.

Senior Emmy Lamb won first place in news writing for the SEJC on-site competitions where a total of 213 students competed at the convention.

Patrick Booker and Omenka Webb, the Almagest student newspaper managing editor and executive editor, respectively, won ninth place for Best Web Page.

A feature about LSUS's new soccer team by Lamb and senior Morgan Pitner was ranked tenth in the Feature News Reporting category. 

The SEJC Best of the South contest promotes journalism in the Southeast region, and all annual entries are given a rating. This year, the 30 best entries for each category were chosen from 412 qualified entries from 30 universities.
