LSUS Continuing Education Offers Summer Camps for Kids and Adult Courses

SHREVEPORT, LA- LSUS Continuing Education is offering various summer camps for K-12 students this coming July, designed to give them supplemental instruction and training during their summer break. Continuing Education will also be offering a full slate of programs for adults seeking to expand their knowledge base and add to their professional development.

Baseball Total Skills, Robots Acting and Performing (RAP) and Doodles and Sketches will be offered on July 15. Baseball Total Skills will cover all the skills needed to be a well-rounded player, such as batting, throwing, catching, base running, pitching, and fielding. This camp is for ages 6-12 and will divide them up based on their age and skill level. RAP camp is where kids will learn the history of robotics and computer programming along with problem solving skills and algorithms. Campers will use LEGO EV3 robots to learn the basics of programing and the operation of a robot. Doodle and Sketches is a class for kids interested in art. Students will learn the fundamentals of drawing such as, line, shape, form, volume and perspective. The main focus will be on drawing characters and creatures, whether make believe or realistic. These summer camps are intended to be fun and educational experiences for kids.

We are also offering various adult courses, such as Screenwriting 101, the GRE Live-Online Course on July 16, and Property and Casualty Insurance on July 19. Screenwriting 101 will explore ways to create characters, build plots, shape scenes, sharpen dialogue and write a compelling and producible script for anyone interested in this dynamic process. GRE Live-Online is an interactive online class designed to provide students with skills necessary to succeed on each section of the GRE. Property and Casualty is a pre-licensing course that will explore the general principles of insurance and the specifics of Property and Casualty Insurance. Upon completion of this course, candidates will be presented with a 40 hour certificate required to take the final State Exam.
