LSUS Continuing Education Hosts 13th Annual Suicide Prevention Conference

SHREVEPORT, LA– The LSUS Continuing Education Division will be hosting the 13th Annual Suicide Prevention Conference on Friday, December 7th from 8:30am-4pm, with registration starting at 7:30am. This conference aims to help attendees pinpoint signs of suicidal behaviors, and provides guidelines for suicide prevention among youth in the Shreveport-Bossier community.


The Keynote address, Youth Suicide: Prevention and Response, presented by Frank J. Zenere, Ed.S., will kick-off the day-long conference. The afternoon breakout sessions will be led by professionals with significant academic and applied work in the field. Attendees can choose either two 1.5 hour sessions or one 3-hour session. The 1.5 hour sessions will include: social media’s effect on mental health, difficult conversations when dealing with suicide, and suicide prevention in young adults with ASD.  The 3-hour session explores mental health ethics codes.
