LSUS Computer Science Program Ranked First in State for Affordability

Shreveport, LA-LSU Shreveport's Bachelor of Science in Computer Science has been ranked the #1 Best Affordable Computer Science Degree in the state by University HQ, a leading independent organization that provides resources for prospective college students. The program ranked #30 nationally.

University HQ collects data from the National Center for Education Statistics, the U.S. Department of Education Scorecard, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and PayScale to determine its rankings based on many factors. These factors include retention rate, graduation rate, admission rate, cost of tuition, graduating salary, number of programs offered, online programs offered, loan default rate, diplomas awarded, and percent of students receiving financial aid.

"It's great to be highly ranked on this list," Professor and Chair of the Department of Computer Science Dr. Richard Watson said. "Our university offers high-quality computer science degree options at a really affordable price. LSUS offers affordability on all degrees and our department's outstanding faculty makes us high-quality. We are constantly working to grow with the evolving technological hemisphere. Currently, we're working on a new, specialized cyber security classroom as well as several other exciting initiatives."

Programs offered by the LSUS Department of Computer Science include certificate, minor, undergraduate and graduate level opportunities. The recently unveiled Cyber Collaboratory is a state-of-the-art immersive learning space where students, faculty, and industry partners come together to discuss, research, and create their visions utilizing the latest technology. The Department of Computer Science is also home to several cutting-edge campus labs that support cyber security, Cisco Networking Academy, bioinformatics research, game development, information system operation, software development, and more.
