LSUS Announces New Dean of the College of Business, Education, and Human Development

April 05, 2016

LSU Shreveport is pleased to announce Dr. Nancy Albers-Miller as the new Dean of the College of Business, Education, and Human Development. The faculty and staff are excited to welcome Dr. Miller to campus and look forward to the passion and expertise she brings to the university.

Dr. Miller earned her MBA at Texas State University in 1989. Five years later she earned her Ph.D. at the University of Houston in the field of marketing and international business.

"I am honored to have joined the outstanding team at Louisiana State University Shreveport in the College of Business, Education and Human Development. We have a rare opportunity to build synergy between the highly demanded disciplines of Business, Education, Kinesiology and Psychology. Each of these programs has a strong reputation and external validation for excellence," said Dr. Miller. "Our students and their future employers benefit from the common ground and diverse perspectives afforded by unity of these disciplines in a single college. I look forward to a dynamic future of continuous innovation and growth."
Dr. Miller's successful track record in fund raising, developing local and global contacts, and working with alumni and advisory boards will enhance LSUS in the institution's outreach to prospective and current students, and alumni. She has a diverse background in both public and private academic, as well as corporate experiences that will allow her to develop an innovative, entrepreneurial perspective.

Her knowledge of addressing competitive pressures and changing demographics has resulted in the development of partnerships with the military, business leaders, community colleges and the creation of several international agreements at her previous institutions, which will prepare the College of Business, Education, and Human Development to reach out locally, nationally, and internationally to bring recognition to the excellence of LSUS.

"We are thrilled to have someone with Dr. Miller's expertise in such a critical leadership role for LSU Shreveport," said Dr. John S. Vassar, Provost at LSUS. "Her experience in a major metropolitan university setting will greatly benefit not just the campus, but the entire Northwest Louisiana region."

Dr. Nancy Albers-Miller will officially join LSU Shreveport on July 5, 2016.
