Counseling Services hosted “Me Too: The Outlier Readings”

November 07, 2017

Last week, Counseling Services hosted their “Me Too: The Outlier Readings” event, where stories were shared on surviving sexual harassment and assault. These stories came from local survivors, government officials, news media, LSUS faculty and staff, and various other advocates.

This event included approximately 60 people in attendance, and 40 readers with 40 stories. Readers in attendance included (but were not limited to):

Representative Cedric B. Glover, LA House of Reps

Michelle Marcotte, Shreveport Times

Judy Williams, Williams Creative Group

Angela Henderson, Project Celebration

Jason McDonald, Korner Lounge

Clint McCommon, Fairfield Studios

Scott Crawford, Bossier Sheriff's Office

Christa Pazzaglia, Hope Connections

Kelly Rich, Highland Jazz and Blues Festival

Steve Jackson, Caddo Commissioner

Chef Tootie Morrison, Abby Singer’s

Robin Jones, Bossier Arts Council

Pastor Jessica Lowe, Grace Community UMC

Mollie Corbett, Artistic Producer, The Outlier Project

The event raised awareness for sexual assault, dispelled victim stigma, and fostered restorative justice for victims in our community. Those in attendance were moved by the immense support for a topic that is not often openly discussed in public forums.
