Science Graduates

Renisha Sanders

What I do now:
I am the Operations Manager for a Private Wealth Advisory Practice. Our team mission at Cardinaux Wealth Advisors is to help clients achieve their personal and life goals through a long-term relationship with a knowledgeable and trusted Wealth Advisory Team.

My work/job consists of:
My job is to make sure everything runs smoothly and to hold everyone accountable for their responsibilities. I manage the staff and work with the advisors to ensure all our clients are well taken care of and have a great experience while visiting with our firm.

Path to my current career position (how I got from the past to the present):
I worked hard in school to ensure my success upon graduation. Then, life decided to send me on a path different from what I expected. However, I capitalized on my endeavor and shortly rose to a management position with my firm and have not looked back. I am utilizing the skills I acquired while obtaining my Science degree: organization, multi-tasking, research and implementation. My analytical thinking has allowed me to go far in life.

How I got to LSUS (or why I chose LSUS):
While living in Arkansas, I decided I wanted to go out of state, yet I did not want to go too far from home. I researched various universities in surrounding states and settled on LSUS because of the opportunities they are willing to provide and the charming nature of the University.

Fond memories of LSUS:
Fun times in the UC
Being a member of the Dazzling Diamonds
LSUS activities and events on campus
Performing at and attending the basketball games
Making lifelong friends!

LSUS faculty who helped me:
Whether they knew it or not, the following professors were very encouraging to me: Dr. Burden, Dr. Williams-Hart, Dr. Ingold & Dr. Salvatore. All the professors, however, were very helpful and available when needed.

How LSUS helped me succeed:
LSUS provided me with an abundance of great resources. The University had the tools and capabilities for me to complete my research, and friendly professors that made time when I had additional questions.

Advice to college-bound students:
Keep constant communication with both your professors and the counselors. They will not lead you in the wrong direction, and will help correct your path should you steer off course. Study and focus in order to get a better understanding of the subject matter at hand. Become involved with the school and join one of the many organizations they have available. Most importantly, have fun!

Advice to someone who wants to enter my field:
Always seek to better yourself by increasing your knowledge! Getting involved in undergraduate programs and internships can help lay the foundation for a good career. Also, make sure to capitalize on key functions of learning and not to take anything for granted. You may be offered an opportunity to do something much greater than what you feel you are capable of, but the tools you've picked up will become your strengths.

Tips on choosing a major or career:
Focus on what you feel passionate about doing in life. Life will hand you curve balls, but if you continue to build your knowledge you will become capable of handling whatever life throws at you!

My toughest professional challenge:
Managing people. I consider myself a people person and know how to get along with most everyone. Learning how to manage multiple personalities, and get them all to work along side each other in order to accomplish a common goal was a challenge I was up for. I have now turned this challenge into a strength with the experience of my current role. I am always willing to grow and learn from my mistakes. I think my team would agree on that.

My toughest personal challenge:
Being a mother, wife, full-time student and full-time employee. I managed to push through and stay focused on my goal, but it definitely was no walk in the park. I learned to push myself and trust in my abilities.

Successes (honors, awards, etc.) in my life:
Bachelor's Degree - LSUS
Louisiana Notary - State of Louisiana
Vice President - Norla Preservation Project
40 Under 40 Honoree, Class of 2018
My two sons; they are my greatest accomplishment!
An Honoree for Top Business Professional of the Year by the Business Development Connection of the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce - 2019

I've learned this from life:
1 Corinthians 10:13... But God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but along with the temptation he will also make the way out so that you may be able to endure it.
Life is indeed a gift... and if you throw all your burdens on God he will help guide you through the darkness. What you do with the life you are given is truly up to you!

What I'd be doing if I had all the time in the world:
Running several business founded by me! I have the spirit of a great innovator... I have tons of ideas and ways to begin implementation, I just need the time to accomplish them all within my time standards.
