Welcome Phi Mu

July 24, 2017

Phi MuThe women have arrived! In 1984, the beautiful ladies of Phi Mu began the Epsilon Xi chapter on LSUS campus. Phi Mu is a national Fraternity that helps young women become stronger academically and professionally. It was founded in 1852 at Wesleyan College, and they are the second oldest American sorority.

When Phi Mu first arrived at LSUS, there were only about eight active members. Now, the sorority averages over 20 members a year. Phi Mu supports LSUS in all affairs, both social and academic.

Phi Mu“The ladies of Phi Mu diligently participate in university-hosted events and engage our members to get involved in and support other organizations,” said Morgan Hope, the current President of the Epsilon Xi chapter. “Phi Mu promotes academic scholarship, so the university and chapter can thrive.”

These women also work very closely with the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. They host several annual events to raise funds for the equipment and care that the patients need.

“Some of our annual events include, Hoopapalooza and Lilly Pulitzer Bingo,” said Hope. “In addition, this Fall, we will be hosting our second annual Dance Marathon, which is sure to be a hit. Last year, we raised almost $11,000 at this event alone.”

Since those beautiful ladies began the Epsilon Xi chapter back in 1984, LSUS has been blessed with the presence of these amazing women. They serve on several different social and academics boards and councils at LSUS. Most importantly, they are always there with a helping hand and a bright smile when you need one.
