All Aboard to Cali!
This piece of information has caught us by
surprise. On one hand it is kind
of sad, but on the other hand we should rejoice. The city of Cali will be the host for
the 2008 Junior World Championships.
The city of Whitehorse, Canada, where this championship was
originally allocated two years ago, has withdrawn from this compromise
due to disagreements with the Organizing Committee (a private agency not
related to weightlifting).
Immediately the IWF started searching for a suitable place to
relocate with such short notice.
It is great to know that these champs have been awarded to the
city of Cali, Colombia in June 2008.
Enough is to say that this will provide a relief from a costly
trip to Europe or Asia, from our geographical standpoint. Let us all join hands and make this the
best Junior Weightlifting Championships in history.
