The UWC is not a correcting service, a grading service, nor a “write-it-for-you” service. It does, however, provide help for all the stages of the writing process, including critiques of student writing; assistance with style and citation formats; and help with grammar and mechanics. In addition, students can learn how to generate ideas for assignments through such techniques as brainstorming, free-writing, and outlining; and, while the UWC will not proofread, edit, or revise students’ papers, the peer counselors show writers how to perform these functions themselves.
