Recreational Sports and Sporting Facilities

Group Exercise Classes

 

Rec Sports offers group exercise classes free to LSUS and LSUHSC students and for $25/semester for LSUS and LSUHSC faculty/staff.

Unless otherwise noted, all classes are held in the Health & Physical Education Building's Dance Studio. No pre-registration is required to attend the classes, but participants must bring a valid school ID to each class and sign-in. Please wear appropriate attire/footwear and bring a towel and water bottle. Class times and dates are subject to change.

If you would like to receive messages about sudden class changes and/or cancellations, please email angel.martin@lsus.edu with your name and email address. When possible, you will receive notification if a class has been canceled or rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances.

BASIC MAT PILATES - An effective, non-impact exercise program that will strengthen and condition the core-body muscles through slow, focused and controlled movements. Bring your own mat or borrow one from Rec Sports. 

BODY SCULPT - Strengthen and tone specific muscle groups using hand weights, rubber tubing, stability balls and other equipment.

CARDIO BARRE - Cardio Barre is a low-impact, high-energy workout, focused on burning fat and creating long and lean muscles through barre work and light weights. Enjoy challenging and fun exercises that tone, tighten and sculpt the body. No experience required, all levels are welcome!

CARDIO PUMP - A continuous workout that involves step aerobics, weight-bearing exercises and hand weights to get your heart rate up and strengthen the muscles. If you're short on time, this class is the total package! 

KICKBOXING - Incorporates the entire body by using kicks and punches in different combinations. This class is designed for people seeking a fun-filled, energized, powerful workout!

POWER YOGA - Sculpt your body from the inside out and experience progressions that seamlessly flow from one to the next. Yoga is for all skill levels and incorporates fundamental poses to tone your entire body, not to mention relieve stress and rejuvenate the mind!
