  Business & Entrepreneurial Skills Training
               Sep 4 - Dec 11, 2007       
This is a 12-week training course covering accounting, marketing, business law, banking and financing, insurance, management techniques, business planning and cash flow management. Co-sponsored with City of Shreveport/Community Development, Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, Bossier Chamber of Commerce, Southern University at Shreveport. Cost is $100. Classes meet at LSUS and Southern University's Small, Women, and Minority-Owned Incubator in Bossier City. Please call Felicia Bell at 318-673-7525 to register. Small & Emerging Business Development. The LSUS Small Business Development Center is a partner with Louisiana Economic Development in helping facilitate state funding assistance for special projects needed to help expand or improve small business operations. During the past year, some small companies received help in paying for QuickBooks installation and training, industry-specific training, web site design and brochure design services.

Applications and full eligibility requirements for this program may be downloaded from Louisiana Economic Developments website at http://www.lded.state.la.us/businessretention/overview.aspx. Basic criteria to become certified as a small & emerging business include:
  *Personal net worth (excluding home, business, 401Ks & IRAs)less than $200,000
  *Business net worth less than $750,000.
