LSUS SACS PROCESS

Timelines

FALL 2002- Spring 2003:
  • University Planning Committee continues to implement a solid institutional effectiveness process.
 
Spring 2003:
  • Form membership of LSUS Leadership, Compliance, and Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Committees. The Leadership Committee will oversee the entire process, directing the Compliance Committee for the Compliance Certification and Quality Enhancement Plan Committee for the Quality Enhancement Plan.
 
June 9, 2003:
  • Leadership Committee attends one-day orientation in Atlanta, Georgia.
 
Summer 2003:
  • Leadership Committee initiates the re-accreditation process on campus with informational meetings.
 
Fall 2003:
  • Compliance Committee and QEP Committee begin the process:
Compliance Certification Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)
  • Compliance Committee:
    • Establishes goals, develops action plan and preferred format for completion of the Compliance Certification.
    • Collects data and/or administers surveys to evaluate each Core Requirement and Comprehensive Standard.
    • Identifies each compliant and non-compliant Requirement and Standard.
    • Writes initial reports including action plans for non-compliance and submits to Compliance Committee Chair electronically.
    • Submits draft report to Leadership Committee for review of areas of
      compliance and non-compliance and updates report.
    • Submits updated report to LSUS Administration.
  • LSUS Administration addresses non-compliance areas and action plans and reports back to Leadership and/or Compliance Committee.
  • Compliance Committee reviews draft and writes Compliance Certification.
  • Leadership Committee sends Compliance Certification with supporting documentation to Commission on Colleges.
  • September 10, 2004: Compliance Certification Due
  • QEP Committee:
    • Engages all constituencies University in forums, workshops, discussion groups, and work to gather information and everyone to participate in development of the QEP.
    • Writes draft of QEP and submits the LSUS Administration discussion and approval.
    • Posts draft QEP on Web review and feedback.
    • Makes revisions and submits the Leadership Committee.
  • Leadership Committee submits to the Commission on Colleges.
  • February 15, 2005: Quality Enhancement Plan Due
   
Spring 2004:
  • LSUS submits expanded SACS Annual Institutional Profile (addresses additional areas such as management and governance, enrollment trends, financial indicators, and program location and delivery).
 
November 8-12, 2004:
  • Off-Site Peer Review: SACS-appointed committee meets off-campus to review the Compliance Certification and supporting documentation attesting to LSUS's determination of its compliance with all Core Requirements and Comprehensive Standards with the exception of Core Requirement Twelve, which relates to the Quality Enhancement Plan. The off-site committee submits a report of its findings to the Commission.
  • The Commission staff orally communicates to LSUS a summary of the report prepared by the off-site review Committee. LSUS may choose to submit a focused report in response to the committee's findings. The on-site committee receives a written copy of the off-site committee's report and LSUS's focused report, if one is submitted.
 
November – December 2004:
  • LSUS prepares a response to the off-site committee report and submits it to the Commission.
 
April 5-7, 2005:
  • On-Site Peer Review: SACS-appointed committee visits LSUS to review and determine the acceptability of the QEP, to review the areas of non-compliance and other areas of concern noted by the off-site committee, and to review any areas of concern that surface during the visit. The on-site committee submits its report to the
    Commission and to LSUS.
 
Summer 2005:
  • LSUS provides a response to the on-site committee report and forwards it to the Commission on Colleges.
  • LSUS implements the QEP.
 
December 2005:
  • Commission on Colleges reviews the findings of the Reaffirmation Committee and the response of LSUS to those findings and takes action on LSUS’s reaffirmation.
  • LSUS’s accreditation status revealed at SACS Annual Meeting.
 
Spring 2006:
  • LSUS implements and sustains the QEP.
 
Summer 2010:
  • LSUS submits Quality Enhancement Plan impact and progress report to the Commission on Colleges.
