LSUS Archives to Host Workshop

In observance of Archives Month, the LSU Shreveport Archives and Special Collections will host "Archives 4 U: Basics of Archives" workshop October 30, 2009 on the third floor of Noel Memorial Library from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A team of four Ark-La-Tex Archivists from LSUS, Centenary College, Southern University-Shreveport and Shreve Memorial Library will lead this all-day workshop.
The practical workshop is geared towards those who work with historical records but have little or no archival training. Topics will include what makes a historical record, how to take care of historical records so they can be used in the next century, how to protect historical collections from theft and destruction and where to learn more about caring for historical records.
The registration fee is $35 which includes a workbook, CD containing computer based lessons and box lunch. Seating is limited, and registration closes October 26.
