SOAR
All freshmen
register for classes by attending Student Orientation and Registration
(SOAR). SOAR gives first time freshmen a head start on the university
experience. The program provides each student with specific information
about the academic, social and physical environment, campus resources,
tips for success, university policies/procedures and differences
between high school and college. In addition students
receive personalized course scheduling and register for classes
through the University's web registration system.

Student
Services
LSUS provides
a variety of resources to assist your student in reaching his/her
educational goals. Student services including personal, educational
and career counseling, financial aid programs, housing, mentoring,
student success programs, student organizations and activities,
transcript requests, enrollment verification and voter registration
are available to our students.
The University
excels in providing computer labs and access to our students. 100%
of LSUS classrooms have Internet connectivity as compared to 57%
nationwide. Computer stations located in The Noel Memorial Library
provide Internet access and well as word processing capability.
In addition, each of the four academic colleges provide computer
labs to assist students in completing assignments, conducting research
and supplementing lecture notes and text material.
In order to
provide our students with opportunities for personal academic Assistance,
several specialized types of help are available. The Writing Center,
sponsored by the Department of English, is available to all students
with writing needs. The Career Center as well as many academic departments
maintains a list of students interested in tutoring various subjects.
