The University Fund (established in 2001 as the Chancellor's Circle) was created to provide a means whereby alumni and friends can give support for the educational mission of LSU Shreveport. Its primary goal is to encourage a pattern of consistent support from alumni and friends of LSUS. These gifts are used for the University's areas of greatest need and opportunity. Areas benefiting from the University Fund in the past include scholarships, teaching aids, student services and projects, campus projects, faculty excellence awards and funding for development efforts to garner increased University support.
Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. LSU Shreveport receives less than one-fourth of its total budget from the State of Louisiana. Much of the balance of our support must come from private contributions.
Requests for gifts to the University Fund are mailed in early fall. These donations provide immediate dollars for LSUS in the beginning of its fiscal year. Many donors also prefer to contribute gifts before December 31st for tax purposes.
Like every gift to the LSUS Foundation, gifts to its University Fund are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Those gifts of $1,000 or more qualify for membership in the LSUS Foundation ($500 for individuals under 40 and LSUS faculty, staff or retirees).
