Annual Enrollment: Benefits Fair

Annual Enrollment is the time of year when employees can make changes to their insurance plans. Plan changes are effective January 1, 2017.  If you wish to remain in the same plan, you do not need to do anything with the exception of Flexible Spending. Employees who would like to enroll in flexible spending must do so each calendar year.  We are changing flex spending vendors this year.  Diversified Benefits Services (DBS) will replace Boon Chapman as the vendor for the Flexible Spending Plan in 2017. DBS will conduct a brief presentation at the benefits fair.

FLU SHOTS
Christus Physician Group (Part of Christus Health)will be on site at the Benefits Fair and will administer flu shots again this year.  Please make sure to bring your license and insurance card if you are interested.

DOOR PRIZES
We have some great door prizes! Retirees will need to register for door prizes in the Noel Memorial Library. A drawing for all of the prizes will be held at 1:00 pm in the Noel Memorial Library. Employees / retirees do not have to be present to win.

NWLA Food Bank Food Drive

We will also host a food drive during the Benefits Fair and for the entire month of October.  Please bring whatever you can. All donations will be delivered to the NWLA Food Bank on behalf of LSUS in early November.  Last year we collected / donated over 1700 pounds of food during annual enrollment. We have increased our goal to 2000 pounds!  All items will be delivered in time for Thanksgiving.  We will have a collection bin at the Benefits Fair.  

LSU sets its own annual enrollment period which is different than the Office of Group Benefits annual enrollment period. Please pay attention to the different annual enrollment periods

Employees are eligible to switch between the LSU First Health Plans and Office of Group Benefit (OGB) Health Plans.  All plans count as state health insurance coverage.  Please note that the State Office of Group Benefits does not publish information on the LSU First Health Plan as only LSU System employees and retirees are eligible to enroll. 

The health plans available for the 2017 plan year are as follows.

Premiums
Health and Dental insurance premiums will increase:
- LSU First (Active employees and retirees without Medicare) - 7.5% increase
- Magnolia Local Plus and Magnolia Open Access - 7.5% increase
- Pelican HRA 1000, Pelican HSA 775 and Magnolia Local - 3% increase
- Vantage Medical Home HMO - 7% increase
- Dental premiums - 5% increase
