Flora and fauna surveys are of biological importance in this area to identify a baseline of species composition.

Invasive Species Monitoring
This area has been inundated by invasive species. Two of these nonnative species, Hydrilla verticillata and Salvinia molesta, have been problematic in area waterways. The Institute is working to assess the impact of these nonnative species and to help control these species with new methods.
