Nonprofit Leadership Certificate Program

Certification Requirements

Certification
Students seeking certification must register through the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance and submit a registration form to ihspp@lsus.edu

Undergraduate Requirements

  • Completion of nonprofit competency requirements through 5 required courses including a 300 hour internship and selected seminar work meeting the needs of the nonprofit sector.
    • SOCL 192: Introduction to Nonprofit Organizations (3cr)
    • SOCL 302: Social Organizations (3cr)
    • SOCL 392: Practicum in Nonprofit Organizations (3cr) (Cross listed as Political Science 392)
    • SOCL 492: Seminar in Nonprofit Organizations (3cr) (Cross listed as Political Science 492)
    • SOCL 499: Field Research (3cr)
  • 300 or more hours of internships.
  • Attendance of at least one annual Alliance Management/Leadership Institute (AMI).
  • Completion of a baccalaureate degree.

Graduate Requirements

  • Completion of nonprofit competency requirements through the Master of Science in Nonprofit Administration program.
  • Attendance of at least one annual Alliance Management/Leadership Institute (AMI).
  • Completion of master's degree.

AmeriCorps NCCC

  • Completion of nonprofit competency requirements through AmeriCorps NCCC experience.
  • Application and acceptance in the Master of Science in Nonprofit Administration program.
  • SOCL 392 and 492 for undergraduate students.
  • NPA 702 and 708 for graduate students.
  • Attendance of at least one annual Alliance Management/Leadership Institute (AMI).
