Silent Auctions

Please see below for information about several of our most successful RiverBend Gala Auctions.  The LSUS Foundation generously offers the LSUS Alumni Association the opportunity to partner with them by staging  silent auction at RiverBend events.  If you are interested in volunteering or donating an item, please call the LSUS Alumni Office at 318-797-5190.

Since our silent auction's inception in 2008, we have raised profits of more than $83,000 for scholarships, projects, programs and services that benefit LSUS.

RiverBend Revue 2018

The event was held at 601 Spring, an historical building in downtown Shreveport that formerly housed a machine plant and later an antique car museum. Our silent auction contained almost 60 luxury items including signed memorabilia, beautiful art and photographs, trips, theme baskets and jewelry. The Noel Foundation was honored as Pilot of the Year for their generous support of LSU Shreveport with total donations of $3,183,895.00 through January 2018. Entertainment included Rod Rawlings presenting a Mark Twain impersonation. Music was provided by the Red River Cities Jubilee barbershop quartet.

RiverBend Mystery Dinner Theater 2015

The 2015 event honored Chancellor Larry Clark as Pilot of the Year and celebrated his very successful first year of leadership. The evening's format featured a Mystery Dinner Theater.

The Murder Mystery Company of Dallas entertained and engaged guests with a script personalized to our Shreveport-Bossier "characters." The comedy was "masked in murder" and emceed by our very own Caddo Parish Sheriff, Steve Prator, BGS 1975, and recipient of the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award. (We knew a "crime" would be committed, so the authorities had to be on standby.)

In addition to beautiful jewelry items and art from local donors, the LSUS Alumni Association presented a number of authentic, celebrity-signed items such as a Rolling Stones Guitar and movie poster memorabilia. We almost doubled our fundraising goal thanks to the generosity of our bidders

RiverBend Revue 2013 was held at the Horseshoe Riverdome. Our own Marcia Calhoun (BGS 2000) and Edie Williams (BGS 1988) were honored in a gala entitled "On Broadway!" Both had previously received the Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumni Award.

The Silent Auction was hosted and managed by the LSUS Alumni Association. Guests were free to bid while enjoying cocktails, dinner and music. Thanks to our generous community donors and high bidders, the 2013 auction cleared more than $10,000.
