| Lady Pilots soccer team ‘walks’ to GCAC championship

The LSUS Lady Pilots soccer team won the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference championship Saturday morning without ever taking the field. The Loyola University (N.O.) Wolfpack women’s soccer team forfeited the game to the Lady Pilots scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday, Oct. 22) at “The Swamp” on the LSUS campus.
LSUS Athletic Director Doug Robinson said he was contacted this morning by Loyola officials informing him of the forfeit. “They told me too many players are hurt to field a competitive team,” Robinson said. The Lady Pilots walloped the Wolfpack 7-0 in New Orleans on Oct. 1.
The forfeit moves the Lady Pilots to 14-2 overall and 8-1 in the GCAC, a full two games ahead of the University of Mobile (12-5, 6-3) with only one game remaining on the regular season schedule. LSUS travels to Jackson, Miss., Saturday (Oct. 28) for a 7 p.m. match with the Belhaven College Lady Blazers (9-6, 4-4) to complete the regular season. in Jackson, Miss.
The Lady Pilots are scheduled for first-round play in the NAIA Region XIII tournament on Nov. 3.
