LSUS to host Constitution Day with ‘Mr. Madison’

The LSUS American Studies program will host “A Morning with Mr. Madison: Constitution Day Program” at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, in the University Center Theater. The event is co-sponsored by the LSUS Student Activities Board, the LSUS Department of History and Social Sciences and the LSUS International Lincoln Center for American Studies.
Celebrating the world’s oldest written constitution, the presentation is a stage portrayal of James Madison, father of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights, co-author of the Federalist Papers and the fourth president of the United States. Madison will be portrayed by Dr. John R. Vile, chair of the Middle Tennessee State University Department of Political Science. Vile is the author/editor of 20 books, including The Constitutional Convention of 1878; The encyclopedia of Civil Liberties; Great American Lawyers; Great American Judges; A Comparison of the U.S. Constitution and Its Amendments, and the Encyclopedia of Constitutional Amendments.
